Ann Curry, NBC’s Today program’s co-anchor, flew over from America with a full news crew on December 17 2007 in order to jump from the Middlesbrough Transporter Bridge – The UK Bungee Club’s bridge jump.

The jump was to happen Live on the Today program at 08:15 Eastern Time, being broadcast to over 8million people across America and the world.

Live broadcasts on this scale add a whole different entity to what would normally be a very regular bungee jump!

“One minute your going through your usual processes and checks on a cold December morning on the bridge – and a second later you're being asked questions from Tom Hanks who is sat in a studio a few thousand miles away communicating over a live link. It makes for a very surreal experience!” James Field, Operations Director, Big Bang Promotions.

The jump went out live and on schedule.
